GUJRAT (February 16, 2026): In a major boost to the province’s educational landscape, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif officially inaugurated the distribution of free laptops and “Honhaar Scholarships” at the University of Gujrat (UOG) today.
The event marks a significant milestone in the Punjab government’s mission to bridge the digital divide and empower the youth through high-end technology and financial support.

The ceremony, held at the UOG main campus, highlighted the massive scale of this provincial initiative. According to the official announcement, the drive aims to support students across the entire province with the following targets:

During the ceremony, it was revealed that a significant portion of these resources is being allocated to the Gujranwala Division. Specifically:

Nawaz Sharif Medical College, Gujrat: 47 Laptops and 9 Scholarships.

Wider Division: A total of 2,904 laptops and 843 scholarships are being distributed among students in Sialkot, Narowal, and Mandi Bahauddin.

Addressing a packed hall of students and faculty, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that equipping the youth with modern tools is not a luxury, but a necessity for global competition.
“Our mission is to ensure that no talented student in Punjab is held back by financial constraints. By putting a laptop in your hands and a scholarship in your pocket, we are investing in the future of Pakistan,” the Chief Minister stated.
