The Planning Commission, operating under the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Government of Pakistan, is seeking a dynamic professional to fill a key position. The organization is looking for a qualified individual to join the team as a Member (Social Sector & Devolution) to help drive national development and economic transformation.

This position is a challenging opportunity offered on a contract basis. The tenure is initially for a period of two (02) years, which is further extendable on an annual basis up to a maximum of four (04) years subject to satisfactory performance. The selected candidate will be offered the SPPS-I Scale pay package.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and develop social capital (SDGs/Poverty Alleviation/Social Harmony) with key stakeholders.

• Prepare effective plans regarding social sector development.

• Analyze the implementation of social sector development plans.

• Organize research studies to disseminate findings and recommendations of the analysis with line ministries and relevant social sector agencies.

• Guide to prepare sound projects in regions and sectors lacking adequate portfolio.

• Determine the conditions, keeping in view the current social and political situation, to establish the successful execution of the plan.

• Preparation of implementation plans for short, medium, and long term.

• Coordinate with development partners and assist them in the preparation of Pakistan’s specific country strategy in the area of social sectors.

• Participate in CDWP and ECNEC meetings and facilitate forums in the approval process of social sector development projects/programmes as a sector expert.

• Any other assignment assigned by the Prime Minister, Minister for Planning, DCPC, and Secretary PD&SI.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: A Ph.D. or a Master’s degree in Social Sector fields from a reputed HEC-recognized national or international university.

• Experience:

  • At least 14 years of experience in the relevant field at the policy-making level (for Ph.D. holders).

  • At least 18 years of experience in the relevant field at the policy-making level (for Master’s degree holders).
